Path of Democracy wishes to thank the HKSAR Chief Executive Mrs. Carrie Lam for her 40+ years of dedicated service to Hong Kong and her contribution to building our city into a global financial powerhouse despite the many challenges along the way.

We are especially thankful for Mrs. Lam’s continuous support of our work on our biannual One Country Two System Index Reports; our senior executive diploma program to train the young people in Hong Kong politics and public policies; and our young members to gain invaluable experience through various advisory commissions.

We wish Mrs. Lam the very best as she leaves government service to spend more time with her family, and we look forward to her continuing service to the nation and Hong Kong in her many other capacities.

We find it particularly poignant to recall the words of President Theodore Roosevelt: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

Path of Democracy also wishes to welcome Mr. John Lee to run for the office of Chief Executive, bringing his strong record of accomplishment to help Hong Kong meet the many challenges we face domestically and internationally. We are especially impressed by his “result-oriented” approach, a quality that is critical to resolving the many deep rooted political, social and economic issues in Hong Kong; enhancing our position as a global finance center; integrating Hong Kong with the GBA economy; building Hong Kong as an innovation center and enhancing Hong Kong overall competitiveness in the region. We wish Mr. John Lee every success in his endeavors to come.
