Path of Democracy Meets with Chief Executive to Discuss 2024 Policy Address

The Path of Democracy (PoD) delegation, led by Convenor Mr. Ronny Tong, met with Chief Executive John Lee this morning to share their recommendations for the upcoming 2024 Policy Address and discuss key issues facing Hong Kong. The delegation included Alan Lung (Co-convenor, International Affairs), Ray Poon (Co-convenor, Research), Allan Wong (Co-convenor, Internal & District Affairs), Jeffrey Chan (Governor), Ian Chu (Governor), and Sam Ip (Community Officer).

Mr. Ronny Tong, Convenor of the PoD, expressed appreciation for the constructive dialogue with Chief Executive, which provided a platform for local think tanks to share their perspectives on key issues facing Hong Kong. 

During the meeting, the PoD delegation called for the establishment of an international-level advocacy training center, leveraging Hong Kong's legal expertise to address the urgent need for legal advocacy training in Asia, particularly in Mainland China and showcase the professionalism and quality of Hong Kong's legal services. They also advocated for a global campaign to showcase Hong Kong's unique advantages and expand support for professional services to attract and retain talent. The delegation emphasized the need for a collaborative approach to waste reduction, calling for a change in thinking. They also stressed the importance of strengthening patriotic education in Hong Kong by preserving and revitalizing historical sites, they believe that these sites, through collaboration with the government and businesses, can foster a deeper cultural awareness and patriotic sentiment among young people, strengthening their understanding of Hong Kong's history and national identity. The delegation also advocated for a long-term economic development strategy, emphasizing the need to cultivate future industries and ensure policy continuity to attract international investment and foster stability. 

The PoD remains committed to working with the government and all sectors of society to build a brighter future for Hong Kong.
